What will the apprentice be doing?
You will learn and work with the team responsible for maintaining, fault finding, repairing, building and installing a range of unique manufacturing equipment and facilities at our production site in Meltham.
The role includes:
- Learning and taking an active interest in how machines and equipment are maintained according to the Company maintenance plans.
- Developing skills and knowledge of electrical installations and how they meet current health and safety standards and legislation.
- Problem solving on equipment breakdowns.
- Supporting the building and installation of new manufacturing equipment as directed.
- Assisting in equipment risk assessments and the resulting remedial actions.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Initial 36-week block in College three days a week to complete Level 2 Foundation Competence
Level 3 Development Knowledge one day a week over following two years
Level 3 Development Competence evidenced and signed off by Trainer/Assessor in the workplace
The final year will involve completion of a portfolio and preparation for End Point Assessment (EPA). This measures the skills, knowledge and behaviours outlined in the standard and is carried out by ESFA approved organisations independent from the college.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
The apprenticeship is a hand-on learning role, where responsibilities, tasks and duties will increase as knowledge, skills and learning develops. The apprentice will be supported to work towards an Electrical Maintenance Engineer position.
