This is an exciting opportunity to undertake varied accounting duties, you will be part of a 20 strong team in the Business Services Department and will receive mentoring from a senior member of the team during your training.

Positions

The role will include various accounting duties below, with the aim to develop and have more responsibility during your apprenticeship.

  • Undertaking basic accounting duties
  • Preparation of client accounts, including bookkeeping, processing and completion of tax returns for a variety of different clients
  • Dealing with clients over the telephone and by email in a professional manner
  • Produce reports as and when required
  • Maintenance of paper-based and paperless filing systems
  • Working with various databases to extract and input data with a high level of accuracy
  • Use Microsoft Packages in particular, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Work to deadlines/timescales
  • Dealing with the postal duties as and when required
  • Assisting all members of the team as and when required
  • Ensure that the Policies of the Company are observed and that good practice is encouraged, particularly in the areas of
  • Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, confidentiality and the observance of clients’ rights and wishes

As part of your contract of employment completion of the Apprenticeship Training Programme forms part of your duties as well as helping your personal and professional development; the requirements to complete the programme are as follows:

  • Attend and be punctual for all induction sessions
  • Attend and be punctual for all lessons
  • Complete all required assignments by the required timeline
  • Build up your portfolio of evidence on-going
  • Access support from your tutor/assessor as and when required
  • Access support from your manager with regards to any evidence requirements or support as and when required
  • Attend all work-based training/support sessions

Skills:
Somebody who is a good verbal communicator who has a polite, clear and professional telephone manner
Must have a good level of literacy skills
IT literate and have a good understanding of Microsoft Packages
Required to work to deadlines, with good time management
Good numeracy skills
Confident in using email and the internet
The successful candidate will be organised
Willing to work effectively in the team.

Must be punctual as well as having a good attendance record

Qualifications

Grade 4/C, or above or a Key or Functional Skill at Level 2 or above in maths and English is a requirement. An ICT qualification is desirable. If you have already achieved AAT L2 there may be an opportunity to undertake the Level 3 Accounting Apprenticeship If you have already completed the Level 3 AAT there may be an opportunity to undertake the Professional Accounting Level 4
