A trainee chef from Kirklees College will get to see the cake she designed going on sale after winning a regional competition.
Caitlin Watson, 17, came first in the competition run by Barnsley-based catering supply company Windsor Foodservice.
So now the chocolate salted caramel tart she created will be added to the company’s Pete’s Patisserie dessert range.
Caitlin, who is studying Level 3 Professional Cookery (Pastry and Confectionary) at our Huddersfield Centre, will be invited along to Windsor Foodservice with fellow students to see her dessert being produced.
Hospitality and Catering Curriculum Team Leader Gary Schofield said: “I am absolutely delighted for Caitlin, it’s such a fantastic achievement. We can’t wait to go to the factory and see her dessert being made!”
As well as the dessert competition, students also took part in a Ready Steady Cook challenge where they were given ingredients and asked to whip up a dessert on the spot.
Students Naomi Simpson and Faith Aveyard, both 18, went head to head for the college.
