Students to take part in Enterprise Week

All full time students at Kirklees College will be taking part in the DECA Idea Challenge international competition during our Enterprise Week (13 – 17 November).

Enterprise Week is a part of all full time learners study programmes.

Learners are required to do 7.5 hours of enterprise education.

Learners will attend Maths, English and PAD as usual.

Learners remain on timetable.

During one week each November, Global Entrepreneurship Week inspires individuals around the world to explore their potential as self-starters and innovators through local, national and global activities. Once again Kirklees College students are taking part.

It’s a fast-paced learning activity that challenges student teams to find an innovative new use for a commonplace item. Student teams are asked to pitch their invention in a creative, 3-minute YouTube video presentation.

The item to be used in the challenge was a mystery until announced by DECA Inc. on November 12th….and this year it is rubber bands!

The aim is to develop skills essential for work and life:

  • Teamwork
  • Problem-solving and creativity
  • Critical thinking
  • Communication
