Kirklees College art students get creative at end of year show.
Create 2019 – Kirklees College’s end of year art show, came back with a bang to our Springfield Sixth Form Centre, as it showcased the creative talents of our Art and Design students.
Building on previous years’ events, this year’s show took the form of an arts festival with a number of activities and stalls providing a fully interactive, immersive experience for all visitors. A selection of the activities on offer included; paint-a-mate, pottery throwing, tote bag printing, a ‘take part in art’ session, henna painting and colouring in a giant mandala.
Create 19 was designed to be a community wide event aimed at bringing everyone together to celebrate everything that unites us, for that reason we chose to hold it on the weekend of ‘The Great Get Together’ the series of events celebrating the memory of Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox, who was murdered on 16 June 2016.
“Create 2019 showcased the talent and creativity of our art students with an exhibition area set-up for family, friends and members of the public to come together and peruse the varied forms of art that we create at the college.
We wanted to make the event as inclusive as possible and really show people how fun art and design is. By really getting people involved, we created learning opportunities in a fun way and it was great to see everyone enjoying and participating in art,” said Steve Plumstead, Curriculum Area Manager, Creative.
