Cost per delegate
2011-12: employer contribution waived. Free of charge to staff and settings.
Overview
The level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship is for learning support staff whose responsibilities at work are closely supervised. The level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship is for learning support staff whose role requires competence across a range of responsibilities.
Apprenticeships:
- take approximately 12 to 18 months to achieve;
- include off-the-job training through day release, one day per week;
- include assessment and observation on-the-job;
- combine assignments, portfolios of evidence, workbooks and exams;
- are nationally accredited qualifications by recognised awarding bodies; and
- provide focused support from expert college staff.

What will the training cover?
Apprenticeships include the following qualifications:
- CACHE Certificate in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools level 2,
- CACHE Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools level 3,
- Functional English level 1 and 2,
- Functional maths level 1 and 2,
- Functional ICT level 1 and 2,
- employee rights and responsibilities, covering equality and diversity and health and safety,
- personal learning and thinking skills, covering independent enquiry, creative thinking, reflective thinking, team working, self-management, and effective participation.

CACHE Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce (QCF) level 2

Overview
The course is for those who support children and young people in a supervised role. The course supports learners who work with children and young people in a wide variety of roles, and will develop both professional skills and theoretical knowledge. Learners attend college for three hours per week, either evening or afternoon. Each learner is assigned an assessor who will visit their workplace to evaluate professional competence and provide support and guidance.
