Learning together in Kirklees
Friday 20th of August 2010
Kirklees College is delighted to launch the first joint Adult Learning Part Time Prospectus for Kirklees, produced with Kirklees Neighbourhood Learning and Kirklees Council, as part of an exciting new partnership.
The prospectus, which features over 50 venues and 2,500 courses, from accounting to yoga, will make it easier for learners to find the learning that’s right for them. It was produced in consultation with Calderdale and Kirklees Careers, and is a clear source of information and guide to learning opportunities in the district.
The Kirklees Adult Learning Partnership will allow providers from across Kirklees to share expertise and resources. It will also make sure individuals are directed into the learning which is right for them, whether this be a 34 week college qualification or a 10 week programme at a community venue.
Chris Sadler, principal, Kirklees College said:
"For the first time in West Yorkshire, the partnership has worked together to give people a huge amount of information from a range of providers in one part time prospectus. The new prospectus is a great opportunity to embed Kirklees College into our diverse community. It pulls together a wide range of learning opportunities, and means the college and other providers in Kirklees can project one clear voice. We hope this partnership approach allows us to provide a simple route into learning and the education our community needs."
Coun Cath Harris, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Adult Education said:
"These days, getting into learning needn't mean sitting in a classroom. You could learn at your local library or a community centre, through volunteering or using technology. The prospectus gives information about what help and support is available from different agencies and organisations in Kirklees."
