  • BTEC National Diploma in Exercise and Fitness, completed in 2009.
  • Where do you work now?
  • Purple Dog Training, Media Centre, Huddersfield
  • What's your job title?
  • Training tutor
  • What do you do?
  • I go out into the community and teach all age groups about confidence building and skills development. We get hired by businesses, schools and community groups to teach in the necessary areas. We teach team building and skills through sport a lot of the time, but I can also train people using a mixture of methods.
  • What was Kirklees College like?
  • College was great. I'd recommend it to anyone. The way that they teach is different to many colleges and definitely not like school. They help you relate what you learn to the real world and help you to understand how you can use your skills in a job. The way that they taught really helped me to develop.
  • Has the course helped you get where you are now?
  • The course has definitely helped me to get where I am now. The tutors noticed your qualities and improved the ones you were lacking and developed your strengths.
  • Why did you choose Kirklees College?
  • A lot of my friends went to Kirklees College to do apprenticeships as electricians, joiners and other trades. They told me about the different way of teaching and it sounded really good to me. I'm not a tradesman so the course really suited me.
  • If you could give advice to students in their final two years of school, what would you say?
  • College can give you qualifications and an insight into work. It gives you the piece of paper to show that you can work hard to achieve what you want to do, but when you combine that with experience you gain with time, you can get where you want to be.
