  • Where do you live now?
  • Lower Houses, Huddersfield
  • Which Kirklees College site did you go to?
  • Huddersfield Centre
  • What course?
  • Entry to employment, in 2007.
  • Where do you work now?
  • Wilco Motosave, Huddersfield
  • What's your job title?
  • Assistant bay manager
  • What do you do?
  • I work on vehicle maintenance, look after the counter, deputise for the manager, answer phones, take bookings and replace tyres, exhausts and brakes.
  • What was Kirklees College like?
  • I spent six months at college and the tutors were really supportive. They helped find a variety of work placements for me and as a result I chose motor vehicle as something I wanted to go into. We also learnt about team building, maths, English and general skills that you might need on the job.
  • Has the course helped you get where you are now?
  • Without my work placement at Motosave, which was organised by the college, I wouldn't have this job. I have never worked for a company before and the course was a real confidence boost.
  • Why did you choose Kirklees College?
  • It was a local college and it had a course that sounded just right for me. It offered me new experiences every day and I had so much support, it was a really worthwhile move.
  • If you could give advice to students in their final two years of school, what would you say?
  • It's worth doing a course like this at college, especially if you're not sure what you want to do. The work placements I had meant that it kept my options open. We gained a variety of skills and then we could choose the one we enjoyed the most and go further.
