Sports Academy
Launched in 2011, the Kirklees College Sports Academy gives you the chance to study at college whilst training in your chosen sport - football or rugby.
If you're aged between 16-19 years old and you're serious about sport, the academy is for you.
Kirklees College Sports Academy offers:
- a top class training programme,
- a nationally recognised qualification,
- the best local training facilities,
- coaching qualification in your chosen sport,
- links into semi-professional clubs,
- coaching from high-profile, top-quality coaches (including ex-Huddersfield Town player Kevin Donovan and current Batley Bulldogs and Dewsbury Rams players and coaches),
- matches in the British College's Elite+ League and Student Rugby League u19 League.
You can combine a sports, public services and construction course with your place in the academy.
I would like to join the academy, what do I do now?
- Find a course that's right for you in the prospectus or online: www.kirkleescollege.ac.uk/coursesearch
- Download an application form: www.kirkleescollege.ac.uk/aboutus/apply
- Write the name of the course you want to study in the 'first choice' box on the application form followed by (football academy) or (rugby league academy).
- Wait for the college to contact you about trials.
