Overview
Your apprentice will have an initial assessment to show they are working at an appropriate level. They will be happy working outdoors, carrying out manual work.

BTEC Extended National Diploma in Construction
Course duration
2 years
Overview
On this course your employee will study a wide variety of disciplines within construction.
You will study the following units:
- design procedures,
- building regulations,
- employer related project,
- graphical detailing,
- measurement,
- tendering and estimating,
- building surveying,
- health and safety,
- building technology,
- planning, organisation and control of resources,
- CAD and ICT,
- structural mechanics,
- construction and the environment,
- site surveying,
- setting out procedures,
- environmental science and materials,
- construction technology and design,
- maths, and
- further maths.
Is it right for me?
Your employee will need to meet the following entry criteria:
- A minimum of five GCSEs grade A*-C, including maths, science and English, or
- BTEC First Diploma in Construction at merit level and a level 2 in literacy.
- Your employee will also have an interview.
Higher National Certificate in Construction
Course duration
2 years
Overview
Your employee will study 10 units over the two years. Below are some examples of the type of units covered:
- First year:
- Technology A,
- Design, principles and application,
- Analytical methods,
- Site surveying procedures, and
- Management principles and applications.
- Second year:
- Group project,
- Health safety and welfare,
- Technology B,
- Structural behaviour and detailing, and
- Science and materials.

Is it right for me?
The course is especially suited to technicians who have achieved National Certificate or National Award i.e. level 3 or equivalent.
Individuals who don't meet these qualifications will be interviewed to determine their suitability for the course and will be required to undertake an initial assessment in maths and English.
