Overview

A Level 3 Award in Education and Training provides an introduction to teaching and training adults. It is an essential first step towards practitioner status in the Lifelong Learning Sector (England), as well as being relevant to other nations.
This Award is for new entrants to the lifelong learning sector who do not have prior teaching experience or qualifications. It also suits people already working in the area who want to gain official qualifications. You should have an idea of what subject you'd like to teach and have, or be working towards, a qualification in that area at level 3.
The course consists of 3 modules that cover:
• understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
• understanding and using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in education and training
• understanding the principles and practices of assessment – this forms the theory unit that is part of the assessor suite of qualifications.
There is no requirement to have teaching on this course and individuals can progress onto the full teaching qualification and the assessor qualification which will require access to students.
There are 12 weeks of attended sessions on an evening with other sessions to be scheduled to accommodate the microteaching element of the course.
