Work Skills BTEC Certificate Level 1

If you are looking to improve your work skills and build your confidence, then this course is for you. The course also offers you valuable voluntary work opportunities to help you gain valuable work experience.


You will participate in voluntary work to achieve recognised accreditation. You will also improve your maths and English at your own pace.

You will develop work-related and employability skills and work placement opportunities are available at both centres.

Entry Requirements

  • An assessment indicating that you can work at entry level 3 English.
  • You will have an interview with the course tutor to make sure the course is right for you and to see if you have any additional support needs.
  • Foundation Learning course entry requirements include a minimum of Milestone 7/8.

After completing the workskills course you can apply for any cross college courses.

Voluntary, supported or paid employment.

Fees & Funding

As a full time student aged 16-18 you will not usually need to pay any course or examination fees.

Just like any other college course you will be expected to pay for some essential costs, these include stationary items such as A4 pads and ring binders, pens and pencils.

You will also need to pay bus fares for external visits.
