Learning Resource Centres
The aim of all our learning resource centres (LRCs) is to help maximise your potential and enhance your learning experience within a safe, welcoming and vibrant environment conducive to study.
We are at the heart of any teaching and research programme and provide access to a range of high quality printed, electronic and IT resources in a variety of formats. Our aim is to support learning through the diversity of our centres, promoting equality for all our learners.
Media equipment loan service
ALL centres have a range of up-to-date and state-of-the-art media equipment for loan to students and staff such as:
- Laptops and netbooks;
- Flip and Disgo video cameras;
- Camcorders and voice recorders;
- Desk top projectors; and
- Voting systems.
We provide services at three of the college's main centres:
- Huddersfield Centre - flexible learning centre, library and bookshop;
- Dewsbury Centre - library with IT facilities; and
- Wheelwright Centre, which incorporates Batley School of Art and Design - library and IT facilities.
Flexible learning centre
The flexible learning centre (FLC) team are professional, friendly and are trained and qualified to help, assist and respond positively to customer needs. They have a wide spectrum of knowledge and expertise in using different office applications and the internet.
The centre offers drop-in facilities where you can use one of the 56 high-spec networked computers for internet research and assignment work. We also offer printing, photocopying, laminating and spiral binding services to enhance the presentation of your work.
Book shop - Huddersfield Centre
Staff are friendly and helpful and along with selling books that support different curriculum areas, the shop sells a range of stationery, phone top-ups, stamps, greeting cards and gifts. As a college student you could get a 10% discount off books. The shop also offers a range of Huddersfield Town FC merchandise.
All library centres have friendly, dedicated staff on-hand to assist with research, developing study skills and offer advice as to the best resources for your assignment.
The library catalogue (WebOPAC) is accessible online, easy to use and provides up-to-date information regarding the availability and location of materials for loan. In addition to books, a large collection of journals and DVDs are available for loan. This comprehensive range of printed and electronic resources offers support to both further education and higher education students. The libraries also offer IT facilities for your research and assignment work.
